CM Sonowal to lay foundation of Assam Skill University in Mangaldoi tomorrow

GUWAHATI: Assam chief minister Sarbananda Sonowal will lay foundation stone of Assam Skill University in Mangaldoi, Darrang on February 15 around 2 PM.

The project of the Assam Skill University estimated cost of 140 million dollars is an approach to complete by the year 2026.

 

The Assam Skill University will focus on 12 different sectors- Engineering, Management and Entrepreneurship, Agriculture and Forestry, Digital Technology, Textile, Media, Entertainment and Communications, Logistics and Transport, Tourism, Hospitality and Wellness, Development of TVET Practitioner, Retail, and Healthcare and Pharmaceuticals and Distance & Lifelong learning.

The university will also provide high-end Graduate (B.Voc.), Post-graduate (M.Voc.) and Research Level Vocational courses and revamp the scenario of existing vocational training systems in the entire Eastern region of India.

 

Besides theory and practical the University will provide education to students in house amenities like an Applied R&D Lab, Start-up and incubation facilities, Industry 4.0 Technology Center, and industry and commercial space for institute-enterprise cooperation.

 

For providing sector-specific expertise to this University, the Assam Government is also exploring partnership arrangements with countries like Singapore, Germany, Taiwan, South Korea, Australia, Israel, Japan and the United Kingdom, etc.

 

Such international collaborations with credible skills institutions, leading global technology companies, and others will increase the standard of the training offered by international accreditation here.

The spacious campus spread over an elaborate 250 bighas of land, would have advanced features such as recycling and conservation of water, use of solar energy at the campus, Vaastu designs, and the University's green campus to make it a nature-centered and eco-friendly campus.

 

Furthermore, the Work Allocation for the commencement of the boundary fencing work of the University has been done, construction of the road approaching towards the University site has already been started and all other packages of tenders related to the University will be published in this month itself.
