Sugar – The Sweet Poison

Sugar - A sweet poison Sugar - A sweet poison

It is quite often that we come across claims that state- "Brown sugar is healthier", "Honey is organic", "Jaggery is a traditional sweetener and traditions are supposed to be carried and passed on". SUGAR IS SUGAR and nothing makes in healthier to consume by merely changing its form.

Sugar - rightly stated as white poison, and is harmful irrespective of its form when consumed.

Jaggery, honey and brown sugar are no different from the refined white sugar as they all are ranked high in the glycaemic index (which induces fluctuation in insulin levels of the body ) and hence is considered to be venomous for the diabetic.  Adding onto that, is it not healthy for people suffering from overweight to consume it, for it boosts the insulin levels, which is further directly proportionate to the fat deposit in the body.

Not just that, but excess intake is also linked with increased risk of cancer, poor heart health, increased cellular ageing and the acceleration of the skin ageing process. In addition to causing health problems, it is addictive. It causes dopamine to be released in the reward centre of the brain, which is the same response activated by addictive drugs.

To lead a healthy life it is wiser to quit it and its types like honey, jaggery, and brown sugar and switch on to better alternatives.

So, the question arises ; Is there a healthy alternative available for Sugar?

There surely is: Stevia is considered to be the closest healthier alternative to refined sugar because of the fact that it is made from a plant called stevia (also known as 'meethi tulsi' in Himachal) which is 6 times sweeter than regular ones. Stevia carries ZERO calories unlike sugar, which has FOUR calories in 1 gram.

LET'S REVERSE THE PROCESS OF AGEING TOGETHER. LET'S GET HEALTHIER TOGETHER.
