Kabul, August 18, 2019:

At least 63 were killed and over 100 injured after a blast inside a wedding hall in Afghanistan capital Kabul, according to Afghanistan-based TOLO news.

The explosion happened at around 22:40 local time (18.10 GMT) in an area in the west of the city, mostly populated by Shia Muslims.

The wedding was being held by the minority Shi'ite community, which has repeatedly come under attacks from the Taliban and ISIS.

The Afghan Government has stated that it was suicide bombing.

According to reports, no militant group has claimed responsibility for the wedding so far.

Pictures on social media showed bodies strewn across the wedding hall amid overturned chairs and tables.

It may be mentioned that weddings in Afghanistan usually take place in large halls where the men are separated from the women.

The Afghan Government confirmed the death toll hours after the attack took place.
