Guwahati, November 8, 2019:

Saurabh Dwivedi, a veteran journalist who runs a highly-successful media enterprise and YouTube channel called The Lallantop, has landed in the soup after mistakenly claiming that Tarun Gogoi is the Chief Justice of India.

This is indeed baffling as Tarun Gogoi, a three-time former Chief Minister of Assam, has never held the position of CJI. However, the position is currently being held by fellow Ahom man, Ranjan Gogoi.

Dwivedi made the blunder during a video about the Ayodhya land dispute, on which the CJI is expected to pass a Judgment ahead of his retirement on November 18.

In another slip-up, an NDTV anchor had earned the fury of netizens for claiming that Assam's Bachelor Chief Minister, Sarbananda Sonowal, has 6 children.

NDTV anchor Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor made the people of the state laugh out loud by making such a statement while she was reporting the Assam Government’s recent policy decision of denying government jobs to anybody who has two children.

Sonal Mehrotra Kapoor told her viewers that “The interesting bit in this is that the Chief Minister himself has 6 kids, but he has decided to finally implement this two-child policy.” The anchor chose to spread the misinformation without cross checking whether Assam’s CM Sarbananda Sonowal is a father to six kids.

This video was also shared by NDTV on micro-blogging website Twitter but now seems to have been deleted by NDTV.

Assam CM has eight brothers and sisters and he is unmarried. This created a furore in the social media with BJP supporters ripping the channel apart for the obvious error.
