Tarun Gogoi was treated with plasma donated by BJP worker, says Himanta Biswa

TIHU: Assam minister and state BJP top gun Himanta Biswa Sarma today said the plasma used for the plasma therapy of former chief minister Tarun Gogoi during his COVID-19 treatment was donated by a BJP worker.

“There was COVID-19 outbreak last year. Like everybody, we were also scared. Everybody went indoors. It was only us who were hopping from one hospital to another helping the affected. The Congress men as well as the followers of Lurinjyoti Gogoi were nowhere to be seen. The BJP workers were the only ones to be among the affected people.

“Not a single Congress man came forward to donate a unit of plasma to treat the COVID patients. I wouldn’t like to name the person, but the plasma that was used to give plasma therapy to Tarun Gogoi was also donated by a BJP worker,” Sarma said addressing an election meeting of Patacharkuchi BJP candidate and state BJP president Ranjeet Kr Dass here today.

Sarma had earlier claimed in an election meeting that he visited Gogoi at the hospital at least double the times the deceased Congress leader’s son Gaurav Gogoi did.

Gogoi tested COVID-19 positive in August last year and passed away in November last year.

Sarma also took a cue from Tarun Gogoi today to ask “Who is Lurin Gogoi? Who is Pabindra Deka?”. Lurinjyoti Gogoi is the president of newly floated Assam Jatiya Parishad and Deka is the Patacharkuchi AJP candidate.

The then chief minister Tarun Gogoi had asked “Who’s Badruddin Ajmal?” when the AIUDF was formed in 2006.

Seeking votes for the Dass, Sarma also promised Tihu will become a new subdivision soon if the saffron party is voted to power again.

“I remember, one person lost his life demanding a subdivision in Tihu. His dream will realise. I promise you Tihu will be a subdivision very soon. Not only will Tihu be a subdivision, it will be an all-new Tihu within a year and a half. All the roads and streets will wear a new look within 18 months,” Sarma said.
