ITANAGAR: Tengam Celine Koyu of East Siang was crowned Miss Arunachal 2021 and also won the title of Miss Famous at the grand finale of the 13th edition of Miss Arunachal held at Outdoor Stadium here late Saturday evening.

Riyya Riba of Lepa Reda was adjudged first runner-up and received the title Miss Beautiful Smile, while Hibu Abyang of Lower Subansiri was named second runner-up. The audience and judges were wowed by Koyu and the finalists' poise, wit and confidence.

The winners were crowned by former Miss Arunachal 2020 winners Tokmem Mengu, Millo Meena and Jomyir Jini, while chief minister Pema Khandu, as chief patron-cum-chief guest, and sports and youth affairs minister Mama Natung, as guest of honour, felicitated them.

Tana Puniya (Papum Pare) — Miss Congeniality; Riyya Riba (Lepa Rada) — Miss beautiful smile; Tsering Lhamu (Tawang) — Miss Photogenic; Tamchi Yabish (Kurung Kumey) — Best Catwalk & Best Costume were the winners of sub-contests.

The event was organised by the Arunachal Guild for Cultural Integration (AGCI) under the auspices of the state's youth affairs department with the aim of "flaunting diversity and celebrating unity" celebrating the cultural diversity of the state.

Union minister of state for youth affairs and sports Kiren Rijiju said the contestants had demonstrated their versatility, talent, faith and poise through this platform. “I am proud to witness their outstanding performance,” he said, exuding confidence that the youth of Arunachal Pradesh can compete with the best in India in any region. He congratulated all the contestant of the event.

CM Khandu also praised the contestants, tweeting: “Happy to see that Arunachali youth are extremely talented, confident and willing to contribute for betterment of society. Attended the #GrandFinale of #MissArunachal2021 last night. Congratulations to all the winners and contestants. Best wishes for bright future ahead!”

Hibu Abyang of Lower Subansiri, Miss Arunachal-2021's second runner-up, is the daughter of Delhi Police special commissioner Robin Hibu, a karate expert who has won multiple medals in various competitions throughout the National Capital Region of Delhi.
