Terrorists Launch Grenade in Busy Srinagar Market; 1 Dead, 15 Injured

New Delhi, November 4, 2019:

A grenade attack by suspected terrorists in Hari Singh High Street of Srinagar on Monday left one dead and injured 15 others, reports said.

Preliminary information from sources said that several were injured in the attack.

Sources also said that grenade attack by terrorists was aimed at the civilians and Army as Hari Singh High Street is one of the busiest street in Srinagar.

Sources said that the grenade was launched at busy vegetable market on the street.

It may be mentioned that this is the third grenade attack in Jammu and Kashmir in the last two weeks.

Security personnel have been on high alert in the Valley ever since Article 370, granting special privileges to Kashmiris, was abrogated via a presidential order on August 5.

Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh were officially bifurcated into two Union Territories (UT) on October 31.

The government of India recently released new political maps showing the two UTs. Pakistan called the new maps 'incorrect and legally untenable' and rejected the inclusion of whole of Kashmir as part of the Indian territory.

Pakistan, in its official statement, expressed its solidarity with the people of Jammu& Kashmir. It said that it will continue its support to the legitimate struggle of the people of Indian-occupied Jammu and Kashmir to exercise their right to self-determination in accordance with the relevant UN Security Council Resolutions.
