Threats Emanating from across Border to be Discussed at Conference of IGPs and DGPs of Northeast

Dimapur, September 3, 2019:

The 26th Conference of the IGPs/DGPs of Northeast along with Heads of CPOs and other central agencies operating in the region is being held at Dimapur, Nagaland on 5-6 September. The Conference will be inaugurated by Nagaland Governor RN Ravi on September 5, and Nagaland Chief Minister Neiphiu Rio would preside over the valedictorian function on September 6.

During the conference, issues including threats emanating from across the international border, role of social media in influencing public opinion and other issues such as ethnic tensions, interstate border issues, capacity building of police, etc, are likely to be discussed in detail.

Intelligence Bureau initiated the process in the 1980's to create a platform for effective coordination for security forces to effectively handle insurgent forces.

Twenty five such conferences have been held in different state capitals of the region, effective coordination and well-calibrated and multi-pronged approach have greatly contributed to significant improvement in security situation in the Northeastern region.

The conference aims at bringing common issues for discussion on the table.
