Three arrested with smuggled urea fertilizer in Assam's Dhubri

DHUBRI: Three persons have been arrested with a huge amount of smuggled urea fertilizer in Dhubri of Assam.

Police seized a carrier van loaded with smuggled urea fertilizer at the New Ghat area Dhubri.

Officer in charge, Partha Pratim Gogoi, Dhubri Sadar police station based on a tip-off, seized the van loaded with smuggled urea fertilizer and arrested the driver of the van, handyman, and a trader of the fertilizer.

The Tata ACE carrier van bearing registration no (WB-69A-5762) was smuggled from neighbouring state Barovisha, West Bengal.

Urea is the most important nitrogenous fertiliser in the country, that is why it has been on the list for a long while.

This time the motive of the smugglers being demoralised by the Dhubri police, capturing 40 sacks of urea fertilizer from New Ghat in Dhubri.

The accused persons have been identified as ---Vikas Lakhra, Animesh Das, and Rahibul Islam.

Police brought them to the Dhubri Sadar police station.

A case has been registered against them at the police station.
