Three Suspected Cattle Smugglers Apprehended in Karbi Anglong

Guwahati, September 14, 2019:

Three suspected cattle smugglers were arrested by a team of Assam Police from West Karbi Anglong’s Hemren on Saturday.

A police official said that the three persons were intercepted on a vehicle while they were heading towards Meghalaya trying to smuggle about 11 cattle. The official said that the apprehended persons have been identified as Arkai Senar, Naharchand Sangma and Mishon Teron.

The police officers informed that suspected cattle smugglers have also seized a Tata Mobile bearing registration AS02BC2965. It has been suspected that the cattle were being taken for slaughtering in Meghalaya.

Currently, the police is an investigation on the possible links of these people having connections with a bigger racket in the bordering area.

It may be mentioned that smuggling of cattle is a major issue in the bordering areas of Assam-Meghalaya as well as the Indo-Bangla border.

It may be mentioned that on September 9, Personnel of the Border Security Forces (BSF) have nabbed yet another cattle smuggler along the Indo-Bangladesh border near the Sishumara Border Outlook Post.
