GUWAHATI: Akhil Gogoi, the leader of the newly floated 'Raijor Dal', today filed his nominations for the ensuing polls in Assam from two Constituencies -- Sivasagar and Mariani.

After filing his nomination here today, Gogoi released a letter to the media exhorting other parties to form strategic alliances to thwart the saffron party in the state.

"It is time to bid adieu to the BJP-led coalition government in Assam and perform their visarjan," Akhil Gogoi said, in his strongly worded letter.

"The people of Assam should come out to defeat the traitorous BJP party," Gogoi urged, adding that the people should teach the saffron party a "lesson" for "selling out the country."

Gogoi further charged that the BJP has "invited" one crore ninety lakh Bangladeshis to Assam by enacting the Citizenship Amendment Act.

"While casting their votes, every Assamese person should remember the 5 youths who were martyred," Gogoi said.

Responding to allegations that he is "anti-Muslim", Gogoi said, "It is completely untrue that I am anti-Muslim. Whereas, the fact is, I am opposed to communal politics of any kind."

It needs mention here that Gogoi's terming of the Badruddin Ajmal-led All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) did not sit well with some Raijor Dal leaders including intellectual Hiren Gohain who tendered his resignation shortly.

The BJP party should not be allowed to re-script a 'Bihar story' in Assam, Akhil said, adding that "no one should help the saffron party to retain its stranglehold over Assam."

The peasant leader, stating that "haphazard naming of candidates won't serve the purpose", called for "strategic alliances" to defeat the BJP party in the state.
