TIPRA Kickstarts Fund to Facilitate Return of Stranded Tripuri Labourers

Pradyut Kishore Deb Barman, the chief of The Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA) has now set up a fund to assist the migrant laborers stranded in different parts of the country.

"With whatever is happening outside with our people, especially the migrant workers, we are setting up a fund which will ensure that if the state or Centre does not pay for the return of our workers who cannot afford to return, then as an Organisation, T.I.P.R.A will pay the fare for those who want to return back to our state", Pradyot told Inside Northeast.

Manikya says that he started the fund with a personal donation of Rs 5 lakh. "Those who want to contribute to this mission please come forward...I am starting with Rs 5 lakh. . In these moments of strife we need to show our unity and our love", he urged.

Meanwhile, TIPRA has done a great job in the tribal hamlets in ensuring food and proper sanitization for the people. And, after that this new move invoked positive responses from almost every section if the society.

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Pradyot also revealed that only recently, 33 Tripuri people who were stranded at Aizwal returned with the help of his organization.

"We are facilitating the return of about 33 people back from Aizawl to Tripura .They were stuck in Aizawl but after the intervention of TIPRA, they have been allowed to leave. Our organisation has also arranged for the food for the journey while they have borne the expense for the bus. I would like to thank Surajit Marak from Ghorakappa Karbook for bringing this to my attention", Pradyot said.

He also said that his organization was also trying to help the people of Tripura community now staying at Bangladesh due to the partition. "We had sent Rs 50,000 as help to Bangladesh Tripura Kalyan Sangshad, Bandharban, to help the people who are suffering from acute shortage of food in the area"

"We will also be helping our people in other parts of Bangladesh", Manukya said, adding that corona has no boundaries, religion or ethnicity.
