Tripura becomes India's first state to achieve 100% vaccination coverage among 45+ age group

AGARTALA: Tripura has had one of the highest vaccination rates in the country since India began vaccinating its old population on March 1, 2021, and all people over 45 age on April 1, 2021.

Tripura chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb has stated that the state hopes to be the first in India to attain 100 percent immunisation for the first dosage.

According to the sources, the state has successfully given COVID-19 vaccine to over 98 percent of adults over 45 years with the first dose and 47 percent with the second dose.

A special vaccination drive for those aged 18 to 44 years was held in Tripura on June 21 and 22, with the goal of vaccinating at least half of the eligible population by the end of the month.

The state recorded 1,54,209 COVID immunisation doses on June 21 and 1,85,559 doses on June 22, the world's highest single-day vaccination rate.

A total of 3,39,768 vaccination doses were provided more than 12 percent of Tripura's estimated eligible population of 18 above age. Tripura has become India's first state to achieve 100% vaccination coverage in the 45+ age category with over 14 lakh doses administered.

The Chief Minister has been continually updating on several Panchayats that have achieved 100% immunisation.

The state, so far, has reported 63,137 covid cases and 655 deaths since March 2020. There are currently 3,785 active cases.
