Tripura Gana Mukti Parishad chief Jitendra Chowdhury on Tuesday alleged the ruling parties BJP and IPFT were trying their best to grip over the TTAADC after the scheduled elections could not take place owing to the COVID 19 induced lockdown.
“The BJP and IPFT are trying to grab the power of Tripura ADC using muscle power. Extra-parliamentary forces become active soon the elections are deferred and now they have their own people from Khuwmulwng(the ADC headquarters) to each of the village level committees”, the former Tripura MP alleged.
Speaking to the media persons in the sidelines of a protest organized by the GMP—the tribal wing of the CPIM party, Tripura he also claimed that the steps that were undertaken to help the people who suffered the most because of the lockdown were inadequate and needed review.
“Already there was a palpable crisis in the hills after this new government took overcharge and the nationwide lockdown just burdened the plight. The government should come forward to help the needy in a manner that no family had to suffer”, he told reporters. The veteran CPIM leader also alleged that in the rural areas people were bereft of the facilities that they were entitled to. “People are not getting their MGNREGA wages. We demand the government to come up with special packages for the non-tax paying people of the state. Every month 10 Kg of rice should be provided to these families who are not paying taxes”
The comments have taken a different in the politics of Tripura.
