Tripura CM says BJP-IPFT Alliance to Continue

Tripura Chief Minister and BJP state President Biplab Kumar Deb has assured that the saffron party will continue its alliance with the regional party Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT).

Addressing media persons on Tuesday, the Chief Minister said that despite having a go at the elections separately, the parties are still going to continue to lead the Government, after the party recorded thumping victory in both Lok Sabha constituencies.

Meanwhile, the IPFT candidates – IPFT President and Revenue Minister Narendra Chandra Debbarma (Tripura East) and Brishaketu Debbarma (Tripura West) – secured poor votes – 45,304 (4.33 per cent of the valid votes polled) and 44,225 (3.99 per cent), respectively.

It may be mentioned that the BJP came to PFT) wrested power in the state for the first time in the 2018 Assembly polls after defeating the long-ruling CPI(M) in the State after 25 years.

Meanwhile, the Chief Minister has lauded the effort of TPCC President Pradyot Bikram Manikya Debbarman and said that his work helped the Congress party put up a strong performance this time around.

Deb criticized the Left Front and dubbed them the "complain party".

It may be mentioned that in Tripura West, BJP candidate Pratima Bhoumik secured 5,73,532 votes (51.77 per cent of votes polled) and won the seat defeating her Congress rival Subal Bhowmik by a margin of 3,05,689 votes.

In the tribal reserved Tripura East seat, BJP’s Rebati Tripura won the election bagging 4,82,126 votes (46.12 per cent), beating his Congress rival Pragya Deb Burman by a margin of 2,04,290 votes.
