Agartala, July 27, 2019:

He wrote: "The case filed by me in the SC Diary No. 24953-2019 PRADYOT DEB BURMANVsELECTION COMMISSION OF INDIA is succesfully registered with registration no. W.P.(C) No.-000958/2019 . Matter to come up next week , thank you Abhishek Manu Singhvi and Salman Khurshid for all your support . To all our Congress workers i promised to fight for you and i will fight till the end . This is a victory for us !!"

His move has been lauded by his supporters. "Sir You are true voice of Northeast", wrote one, while another wrote: "Great fight, salute, please keep it up to boost our (congress workers) moral, thank you."

Speaking to Inside Northeast, Deb Burman said: "The case was The Election Commission failed in their efforts to conduct free n fair elections in the state of Tripura and the polls were marred with violence, there was post poll violence, cars were being burned, there was a complete breakdown of peace, and many people were injured. Thus, people who were affected by the polls need compensation for their losses. It is only fair. I believe it will be a landmark judgment against largescale political violence."

Burman also believes that the Election Commission is answerable for the polltime chaos in the State of Tripura. "The ECI is answerable as it was in control of the election, the had postponed elections, there was protection given to the people. The ECI admitted that the State Govt had not given them security. They had transferred the date of the election, why would they do that?  Why did they order re-polling in 160 booths? Thus, I feel that they failed to conduct a free and fair election, and thus, they have failed in their duty towards the people", he said.
