Tripura Pradesh Congress President Pijush Biswas on Sunday slammed Biplab Deb government for failing to live up to the expectations of people and claimed that the party in power would fail to secure even one seat if elections were convened straight away.

“If the elections were conducted now, the BJP would fail to secure one assembly seat. The reason behind their sudden surge was the longstanding anti-incumbency against the then ruling CPIM party. Otherwise, the party had done nothing noticeable to get the chance of being a ruling force”, Pijush claimed.

Addressing the media in the sidelines of a relief distribution programme at Santirbazar, he said, “In the last two and a half years, the government cannot even point out a single thing that they have done for the welfare of the country. You will see, people in the remote areas struggling for food. A sense of uncertainty and crisis is looming large all over the state."

He also claimed that the ruling party was resorting to violence for keeping people quiet. “There are bike gangs, miscreants and other disturbing elements active in each and every locality. The duty of the teams is to terrorize people and prevent other political parties from launching activities”, said Pijush.

Pijsuh also said that the Congress party would launch protests in all the organizational districts of the state On Monday and if the government did not respond the party would stage agitations until the block levels.

“We will hold protests in all the nine organizational districts of the state tomorrow. If the government do not respond to our demands, we will lead the movement till the grass root level and if needed our party will explore every possible way to stage an intensified agitations statewide,” Pijush added.
