AGARTALA: Former Tripura Minister Bhanulal Saha stirred controversy after he wrote a Facebook post encouraging citizens to retaliate against the ruling BJP government in the state.

In his Facebook post , the  Communist Party of India (Marxist) leader urged the people of the state to keep non-lethal weapons like stick, sickle, iron rods, petrol bombs etc. handy to defend themselves and fight against the ‘external attackers’.

He further said that it is not a crime to keep defensive weapons for protection and urged them to gather courage to fight the ‘goons of the ruling party’.

According to reports, the State BJP General Secretary Papia Datta alleged Saha of inciting violence and creating unrest in the state by urging people to adopt violence through his Facebook post.

She further added that they want legal action against the leaders who wants make such remarks, the report further said.

Datta further said that such remarks coming from a person who served as a teacher for a long time, is not flattering at all, especially, in such a time when the state government is trying hard to fight the pandemic and assist the people of the state.

She added that the opposition CPI (M) was trying to create a state of unrest by alleging the BJP workers of attacking their cadres.
