Tripura: Four Unnatural Deaths in Two Separate Incidents, Netizens Breathe Fire against Authorities

Four unnatural deaths have been reported from Tripura in two separate incidents in different parts of the State, which have led to netizens blaming the State's authorities for inaction and irresponsibility.

Tripura Police are investigating in what is being termed as extremely unfortunate and has drawn the ire of the public. In the first case, a half charred body of a 22-year-old girl was found in an open field near a brick kiln at Rangacherra village under Sidhai Mohanpur subdivision under West Tripura district.

In the second incident, a family of three died after the mother poisoned her two kids and hanged herself following extreme poverty. In both these cases, Tripura Police began investigation and remained tight lipped regarding the matters.

Reportedly, the body of the 22-year-old girl was spotted just a few hundred meters away from her residence this morning. Speaking with the media, SDPO Mohanpur, Kamal Bikash Majumder said, “Police is trying to find out as to whether it was a suicide or a homicide. As per as the initial investigation, all the evidences are indicating towards suicide due to love failure. Whereas, we are also not ruling out the possibility of murder. Investigation is underway, the truth would absolutely prevailed.”

One of her relatives said, she left home last evening informing that she would do photocopy of some of her documents, but never returned. A missing complaint was lodged in the local police station last night. Meanwhile, some of the local sources while speaking to media said, last evening electricity connection remained snapped for a couple of hours in the area and the incident might have taken place during that period.  One person identified as Sourabh Paul had been arrested just after the incident.

“There are many things coming up in the case. As per the complaint lodged by the family of the deceased, One Sourabh Pail has been arrested and the interrogation is on”, the SDPO confirmed.

A team of Mahila Morcha, women wing of BJP, leaders under the leadership of its State president Papiya Datta rushed to the residence of the deceased. The women leaders condemned the incident and asked for capital punishment of the culprits.

In the second case, the three members of a family were found dead at Madhya Para village under Shamukchhera in Gomati district. Local sources said, one Andulan Debbarma found his wife Jamuna Debbarma (24) and two kids Jaba Debbarma (7) and Ankush Debbarma (4) dead when he returned home after work.

Tripura Police led by SDPO Dhruba Nath rushed to the spot and started probing. Sources in the police department said, prima facie, it could be understood that both the children were poisoned and the mother hanged herself. An investigation had been initiated to find out the truth, added police.

Local sources, on the other hand claimed that the indigenous family killed itself due to acute poverty. The mother Jamuna Debbarma failed to sustain with the petty job her husband. Meanwhile, some of the local sources ruled out such comments and said that there were no possibilities of poverty.

Meanwhile, both the incidents have prompted netizens to condemn the incidents. Netizens have blamed the ruling establishment for the deaths. Many people accused the Biplab Kumar Deb-led BJP government for rising crimes against women.
