Tripura High Court Rejects Bail Plea of Hospitalized MLA Badal Choudhury

The Tripura High Court on Thursday pronounced the judgement on Badal Choudhury's bail plea. The hearing on bail plea was held on Wednesday, but the justice Arindam Loadh pronounced the order on Wednesday.

At 4 pm on Thursday, Justice Arindam Loadh pronounced the order and rejected the bail plea.

After this, Haribal Debnath, the lawyer of Badal Choudhury, told reporters that they did not get the full verdict.

On the other hand government Advocate General Arun Kanti Bhowmik has said that if he found 'not guilty', he will be released.

On Wednesday, police brought Badal Choudhury to wWst Agartala police station from a private hospital and planned to forwarded him court. But he was again sent to the hospital due to poor health. Now, he is in the ICU at GB hospital, Agartala.

Badal Choudhury alleged that police tortured on him and his wife, while he was being shifted from the private hospital.

While government advocate general was being asked on Thursday about this incident, he said it was a baseless allegation.

Badal Choudhury was admitted at that hospital from 21 October. And he suffered from heart disease and cerebral stroke.

Badal Choudhury's wife Namita Gope has said that her husband's condition is still critical and that he needs to shift AIIMS now as he was gone through bypass surgery earlier. She told, Badal Choudhury is also a neurology patient.

An FIR was lodged against Badal Choudhury on October 13 night over a scam in the Tripura PWD. As many as nine Government officials including top-layer police officers were suspended due to failure to arrest Badal Choudhury.
