Life is not at all hassle-free even after death and if the death caused by the COVID19 or else an infected patient died of some other reasons, the afterlife journey becomes more pathetic. A COVID 19 patient died at GBP hospital COVID treatment centre today afternoon. Accordingly, the Agartala Municipal Corporation had initiated the process of cremation of the body at Battala crematorium ground in Tripura after 4 hours of death as per the health protocols.

But, what left the entire administration helpless was the sudden resistance they faced from the locals of Dahsmighat, Joy Nagar, Battala market and other areas. They including women came out in roads and put up barricades to prevent the dead body from entering the crematorium.

We cannot allow the dead body to be cremated here. The river Howrah is flowing beside and anytime the water may get contaminated if it is used in the final rituals”.

Reacting on the issue a health official said, “There are certain protocols which are followed. No one of the family members are allowed to come closer to the body and everything is done under the proper surveillance of the AMC authorities”.

SDPO Anirban Das said, “Some miscreants hiding behind the local women trying to trigger panic centering the issue. We are controlling the situation and trying to complete the rituals as soon as possible”.
According to the last information came in, the dead body was still in the hospital morgue and it would be brought here after the local mob is dispersed.

Similar situation prevailed centering the final rights at Indranagar burial ground another Covid patient who committed suicide few days back and later buried in a burial ground located at her locality in Tripura.
