Ratan Lal Nath while addressing a press conference today informed that if necessity emerges, ministers of the Tripura cabinet will stay in GBP hospital Agartala to ensure no irregularities in the state’s biggest and only COVID care hospital, said Ratan Lal Nath.

Addressing a press conference in the Civil Secretariat, he said, “There is no room for denial to the fact that every death is unfortunate. And, the task of saving every life is also impossible. But, death due to negligence and irresponsible acts is unacceptable.”

“Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb on September 02 visited GBP hospital Agartala to understand the problems. He had interacted with people from every section of the employees present there. It was quite pertinent to visit the hospital at this juncture as widespread allegations were being raised against the hospital staff and doctors unlike other COVID care facilities such as Bhagat Singh and Hapania where friendly coordination between the administration and doctors smoothened the treatment process”, Nath told reporters.

During CM’s visit, he said, he had clearly told the doctors and other staff that the government would not tolerate any kind of irresponsible act at this sensitive time. Any death due to negligence would invite dire consequences on being proved. However, he had also requested them to strengthen coordination between the employees to put up a united fight against the COVID 19, added Nath.

According to Nath, there is no dearth of logistic support and protective gear for the frontline warriors. An adequate number of disposable gloves, N95 masks, and necessary medicines are being provided to the doctors.

“On a trial basis, our doctors have administered Tocilizumab injection on six COVID patients and found positive results. Now more 50 vials of injections had been brought for patients subject to further requirement. Otherwise, all the equipment and necessary protective gears needed for doctors were available in large numbers”, Nath added.

Nath also expressed grave concerns over the sudden surge of COVID 19 cases in AMC areas and said that the state council of ministers had decided to impose 48 hours weekend Curfew in the AMC areas but due to JEE exams, no lockdown would be imposed. A proposal seeking weekend lockdown has been placed before the centre which awaits a positive nod.

According to Nath, in the last few days, a large number of infected cases have been detected in AMC areas. On September 01, 269 total cases were detected in West Tripura district out of which 171 are from AMC areas. On the following day, 238 total cases were detected in West Tripura and 163 people tested positive in AMC areas. The test per million figure now stood at 70,743 and the mortality rate 0.95 as of September 03 last.
