In an apparent bid to introspect the activities of the party and the Tripura government as a whole the state unit of ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has constituted a number of high power committees to look out for lapses and irregularities if any in implementation of the government schemes. “The committees will focus on the works being done at the Panchayat levels” a party insider said.

According to the party state committee, there are 10 working districts for the party in Tripura and thus for each of the district a three member committee has been formed to look after the activities. The decision has been taken after a short-span meeting convened at the party head quarters on Monday.

The district level committees will directly report to a state level committee. Veteran BJP Leader and Deputy Chief Minister of the state Jishnu Dev Barma has been entrusted with the job to chair the state level committee. Apart from him, there are 4 more members in the high power committee: Rajib Bhattacharjee, Tinku Roy, Papia Dutta and Balai Goswami.

According to BJP party sources, the BJP government in the state has succeeded to achieve new heights under the leadership of chief minister Biplab Kumar Deb.

The government successfully implemented many central schemes in the rural areas bringing smile in the faces of people living in the remote areas.

Now, the party feels there should be a self-introspection drive in order to find out lapses and irregularities if any in the grass root level.

“The administration is doing its job of reviewing and assessing the already implemented schemes and its impact on the lives of people. But, the party top-brass feels that the party should also carry out a survey in all the districts to have a clear picture of the work the government has carried out. The duty of the committees will be to assess and find out irregularities and lapses if found any in the process and report back to the party higher-ups”, a source further added.

Party state unit Tripura chief Dr. Manik Saha has already handed over charges to the new committees and directed them to work with dignity and collect accurate data from the grass root level.
