Tripura may employ skilled returnees in future

Deputy Chief Minister of Tripura, Jishnu Dev Barma stated on Tuesday that the state was storing data of skilled people returning to the state due to the COVID 19 pandemic. This information would be further utilised in a rationalized manner. The minister, who also holds the finance portfolio, said that special help desks would be put up by the Finance department to assist those seeking loans.

Addressing a press conference, here in his official residence, he said, “there are certain issues which need to be taken care of. As per the latest government data, 15,882 people have returned by Shramik Special trains, 7,633 people have arrived through roadways and 106 people returned from neighboring Bangladesh. Now, we are tracking each and every person who returned, with their specifics and work history so that in future they can be offered employment or utilized in a rationalized way.”

COVID 19, he said, has already dealt a blow to the economy of the country. In Tripura, where the number of daily wagers and the quantum of population dependent on agriculture and allied services is huge, the influence seems more critical. However, both the centre and the state are jointly trying to overcome the economic situation with a humanitarian view, he added.

Hailing the central government’s stress on the MSME sector, he said that MSMEs are the biggest employers in the country. The government is keen to promote this sector so that the employment generation mechanism of the country does not get affected. “In Tripura, the finance department will put up help desks so that the people who are in search of loans do not feel low. All the assistance will be provided to them through these help desks”, the Deputy Chief Minister said.

Meanwhile, he also praised the Modi 2.0 govt. for their concerted attempts at keeping the economy moving, despite serious problems and asked people to abide by the restrictions to wage a strong fight against COVID 19.
