Twelve ULB cadres lay down their arms 
UDALGURI: As many as 12 cadres of the newly formed militant group the United Liberation of Bodoland (ULB) laid down their arms before Assam Police in Udalguri district of Assam today and returned home.
The cadres of the ULB laid down their arms in Bhergaon in Udalguri.
The development comes after state Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma directed the Assam Police to motivate the cadres to maintain peace in the state as well as the Bodoland Territorial Region (BTR).
Assam Police said, " We are delighted to have them back home."

Taking to Twitter, special DGP of Assam GP Singh wrote, "Following the directions of Hon ">@CMOfficeAssam the ">@assampolice
has motivated the cadres of newly formed United Liberation of Bodoland to return Home. We are delighted to have them back home. A welcome step towards peaceful, beautiful prosperous Assam."
The cadres of the militant group are now in the custody of Dimakuchi Police Station.
The new militant group was formed at a time when BTR chief Pramod Boro speaks of the region’s return to peace and harmony.
The goal of this new militant group is to form a separate large state “Bodoland”.
Besides that, the ULB has also demanded the immediate release of National Democratic Front of Bodoland (NDFB) chief Ranjan Daimary and other jailed cadres and the reinstatement of NDFB members.
