J&K, June 18, 2019:

Suspected militants attacked an Army Special Forces Convoy vehicle with improvised explosive devices (IED) at Arihal in South Kashmir's Pulwama district on Monday. At least nine jawans were injured in the attack.

In the aftermath of the dastardly attack, two soldiers were taken to the hospital with severe contusions/concussions, but they succumbed to their injuries while undergoing treatment in the 92 Base Hospital.

Indian Army has said that the area has been cordoned and search operations are in progress to find the culprits behind the terror-related crime.

It may be mentioned that Pulwama was also the site of the dastardly terror attack in which a Jaish-e-Mohammed militant rammed an explosives-laden vehicle into a CRPF vehicle, killing 40 jawans.

Meanwhile, in another terror-related incident in Jammu and Kashmir, an Indian Army soldier and two militants were killed on Tuesday in a gunfight in Jammu and Kashmir's Anantnag district, police sources said.

The soldier initially injured in the encounter between the security forces and militants in Waghama village, later succumbed. Two others soldiers have also been injured. They have been shifted to hospital, the sources added.

It was a joint military operation by the Rashtriya Rifles and special operations group that started with a cordon and search operation following intelligence inputs earlier in the day.
