WASHINGTON: The report by the U.S intelligence on the origin of coronavirus has been termed inconclusive, reports said on Wednesday.

The team of scientists sent to China to trace the roots of the coronavirus has stated that the window for the key scientific study on the origin of the virus is closing.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki refused to comment on the report stating that the conclusions of the intelligence review remain classified.

She said the intelligence community is working "expeditiously" to release an unclassified version to the public.

China had earlier slammed the U.S. 'politicization' of the efforts to trace the roots of coronavirus on Wednesday moments before the release of a U.S. intelligence community report on the virus.

It had also demanded the investigation of a U.S. military laboratory.

The report by the U.S is attempted to act as a solution for the conflicts among the intelligence agencies for theories pertaining to the roots of coronavirus.

One much talked theory is related to a Chinese laboratory accident which now has been dismissed.

"Scapegoating China cannot whitewash the U.S.," said Fu Cong, director-general of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs' arms control department according to a report.

China disregarded the theory of coronavirus being leaked from a lab in Wuhan giving rise to the pandemic. Instead, it opined that the virus slipped out of a lab in Fort Detrick, Maryland, in 2019.
