London, April 6, 2020:

UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who had earlier tested positive for the coronavirus or COVID-19, has been moved to intensive care (ICU) on Monday around 7 PM local time. BBC has also reported that updates regarding the PM's health are being given to Queen Elizabeth II moment-to-moment.

It needs mention here that Intensive care is where doctors look after the sick patients.

Johnson, it may be recalled, had been moved to a London hospital for showing persistent symptoms related to the novel coronavirus.

Later, he tweeted that we went to the hospital for routine tests. "Last night, on the advice of my doctor, I went into hospital for some routine tests as I’m still experiencing coronavirus symptoms. I’m in good spirits and keeping in touch with my team, as we work together to fight this virus and keep everyone safe", he wrote.

“On the advice of his doctor, the prime minister has tonight been admitted to hospital for tests,” his Downing Street office said in a statement. Johnson is also said to be suffering from fever, one of the symptoms associated with the virus. His office, meanwhile, has said that he was taken to the hospital as a “precautionary” measure.

It may be recalled that Johnson on March 27 confirmed that he had been infected by the virus. “Over the last 24 hours I have developed mild symptoms and tested positive for coronavirus. I am now self-isolating, but I will continue to lead the government’s response via video-conference as we fight this virus. Together we will beat this”, he had said.

Subsequently, a Downing Street spokeswoman told The Guardian, “After experiencing mild symptoms yesterday, the Prime Minister was tested for coronavirus on the personal advice of England’s Chief Medical Officer, Professor Chris Whitty. The test was carried out in No 10 by NHS staff and the result of the test was positive. In keeping with the guidance, the Prime Minister is self-isolating in Downing Street. He is continuing to lead the government’s response to coronavirus.

Meanwhile, the United Kingdom has issued a set of directives to the people in order to check the spread of the COVID-19.

Now, UK citizens are only allowed to go outside for food, health reasons or work (but only if they cannot work from home). If they do go out, they have been advised to stay 2 metres (6ft) away from other people at all times, and to wash their hands as soon as they get home. They have been discouraged from meeting even friends or family members.
