Guwahati: The troops of the Assam Rifles have nabbed a suspected United Liberation Front of Asom-Independent (ULFA-I) from the Assam-Arunachal border in Tinsukia's Jagun.

The apprehended suspected rebel has been identified as Girindra Chetia alias Pabitra Asom. He was held during an operation based on specific inputs at Tinkupani reserve forest in Jagun along the border.

Chetia hails from Jangani village under Bordubi police station in Tinsukia district.

The operating team had also said that they have recovered a 9 mm pistol and three rounds of live ammunition from his possession.

It may be mentioned that the border areas of Assam-Arunachal-Nagaland are the major hideouts for militants. They usually operate through the internal parts of the forest areas in the borders.
