UPDATE: Saurav Ganguly undergoing primary angioplasty after suffering cardiac arrest

KOLKATA: BCCI President Sourav Ganguly has been admitted to Woodland Hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal, where he is undergoing primary angioplasty. The hospital will release an updated statement at 5 pm in the evening today.

According to Rupali Basu, MD & CEO, Woodlands Gandhi suffered from chest discomfort while running on the treadmill at his home gym.

According to Basu, Ganguly's ECG showed hyperacute ST-segment elevation in inferior leads and lateral leads. "Echo showed mild inferior wall hypokinesia with preserved overall left ventricular function. He is stable hemodynamically. He has received loading doses of dual antiplatelets and statin and is undergoing primary angioplasty now," the statement further added.

"He had a family history of IHD ØE Ischemic heart disease. When he came to the hospital at 1pm, his pulse was 70/min, BP 130/80 mm of Hg and other clinical parameters were within normal limits," the statement further added.

Hearing the news, West Bengal CM Mamata Banerjee took to Twitter and wished 'Dada' a speedy and full recovery.

Earlier this week, Ganguly had also cleared the air about him joining politics ahead of West Bengal Assembly polls next year. He had stated that he went to meet the state’s Governor upon invitation. According to reports in the media,
