GUWAHATI: Bodoland Territorial Council (BTC), Chief Pramod Boro has revealed that a United People’s Party Liberal (UPPL) candidate will be fielded from the Tamulpur constituency in the forthcoming by-polls.
In the Assam Assembly Polls 2021, UPPL candidate Leho Ram Boro was elected unopposed as his rival from Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) candidate Rangja Khungur Basumatary joined the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) a night before the going to polls.
“By-polls are not very important at this point. NDA already formed government in Assam. Anyone will win easily from here,” said Boro speaking with the media persons.
On Saturday, Promod Boro inspected the site allocated for Tamulpur Medical College and Hospital. Union Home Minister Amit Shah will lay the foundation stone of the college digitally at 5 pm from Guwahati during his two-day visit to the Northeast.
“I want to thank our chief minister first for declaring Tamulpur a district. It was a long-due dream. We are now also being able to get medical college and cancer hospital here,” said Boro.
Referring to the National Liberation Front of Bodoland cadres’ return to the mainstream, Boro asserted that though a few incidents like witch-hunting take place in Bodoland sometimes but overall “the region is moving towards cent per cent peace” and it will become feasible for the various commercial ventures.
