Violence rocks West Karbi Anglong; 9 policemen injured by locals

JENGKHA: Miscreants on Monday vandalized the Jengkha Police out-post in the West Karbi Anglong district of Assam. The miscreants also attacked and injured 9 policemen.

According to reports, several patrolling vehicles and furniture were also destroyed by the attackers.

The violence reportedly took place after police detained a drunk youth for causing a disturbance in the area.  This apparently angered some locals who attacked the local police outpost. At least 9 on-duty Police officials were injured and they had to resort to blank firing to control the situation.
