New Delhi, March 3, 2019:

Perhaps no homecoming has been celebrated as wildly as that of IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman as the entire country came together to celebrate his release as a “gesture of peace” by Pakistan on Friday.

Abhinandan has been recovering from a rib injury that he sustained when he was beaten by a mob in Pakistan at a military hospital in New Delhi, but the injury hardly seems to have deterred his spirit as Abhinandan has expressed a desire to return to the cockpit as soon as possible.

As per reports, Abhinandan has expressed his desire to top IAF officials as well as doctors who are supervising his recovery on Sunday. Abhinandan also met Minister of State for Defence Subhash Rao Bhamre met IAF Wing Commander Abhinandan Varthaman at Army Hospital Research And Referral in Delhi on Sunday.

It is to be mentioned that Abhinandan, who shot down an F-16 Fighter Jet belonging to Pakistan from his MiG-21, was taken captive by the neighboring country when his MiG-21 crash-landed on the other side of the LoC. But, Pakistan released him less than 60-hours into his captivity as a “gesture of peace”.
