AGARTALA: Tripura Revenue Minister and Indigenous People's Front of Tripura (IPFT) leader N C Debbarma today said that his party is yet to take a call on whether to support the group of MLAs currently hatching a plot to remove Biplab Deb from the Chief Minister's position.

"Let us see what happens in the future. As of now, there is no concrete plan but the future will tell what happens," N C Debbarma told Inside Northeast over the phone.

Another IPFT functionary, under condition of anonimity, told us that "things are going well with Biplab."

"As of now, there is no friction between our party and the Chief Minister and it is smooth sailing. However, it remains to be seen what happens in the future. The party's top leadership will take the call in this regard."

A group of dissidents in Tripura — led by MLAs Ram Prasad Paul, Sudip Roy Barman, and Ronojoy Deb claim that he is “very much optimistic” that the BJP’s Central leadership will take a decision to “revitalize” the State Government as well as the Tripura state BJP unit.

Last month, a group of MLAs led by Ram Prasad Paul met BJP President J P Nadda to discuss some concerns about the Chief Minister, Biplab Kumar Deb. They were reportedly seeking the ouster of Biplab Kumar Deb.

However, a source from Tripura informed Inside Northeast that barring some miracle, Chief Minister Biplab Kumar Deb is likely to retain his post.

According to reports, the Chief Minister was termed as a “dictator.”
