Kolkata, January 21, 2020:

West Bengal government has decided to pass a resolution against the Citizenship Amendment Act or CAA after Punjab and Kerala.

Following the recent move of Amarinder Singh-led government and Pinarayi Vijayan-led governments decided to pass resolutions against the CAA, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee said that a resolution against the CAA would be passed in the state assembly within the next three or four days.

Banerjee had also appealed to the northeastern and Congress-ruled states to reject the National Register of Citizens (NRC) and National Population Register (NPR). She has termed the latter as a dangerous game and that it is related to NRC and CAA. “Pass a resolution everywhere to withdraw it,” Banerjee had said.

It may be mentioned here that the West Bengal CM had earlier said that there was no need for a resolution against CAA and NRC as the state assembly had already passed one in September, 2019.
