NEW DELHI: This innocent yet extremely valid complaint by a 6-year-old about her heavy school workload resulted in a change in Jammu & Kashmir’s education policy within 48 hours.

A video is doing rounds on social media in which a six-year-old girl can be seen complaining the Prime Minister of India regarding long hours of online classes and workload.

“A six-year-old Kashmiri girl’s complaint to PM Narendra Modi concerns excessive hours of online classes and too much school work,” wrote Aurangzeb Naqshbandi, a journalist and shared the video.

The girl states that her sessions start at 10 a.m. and last until 2 p.m. in the 45-second video.

She says by expressing herself, “There is English, Math, Urdu and EVS. There’s also a class on computers as well.”

“There’s so much work for kids,” the young girl stated, demonstrating her daily stress with hand movements.

“Why do small kids have to deal with so much work, Modi Sahab?” the kid asked.  After a few seconds of silence, she said, “What can be done? Assalamualaikum, Modi Sahab, Bye.”

This lockdown has affected the kids the most, since they’re unable to venture out to play games or interact with their friends. Their only window to the outside world are the zoom classes organised by their respective schools. I guess those classes should be very interactive and fun and focus more on how to deviate the minds of children from the daily monotonous routine during the lockdown.
