Wild leopard attacks 3 forest officials in Guwahati, 1 critical

GUWAHATI: A wild leopard is wreaking havoc in Guwahati, where it has so far attacked 3 Forest Officials, officials have said.

According to reports, the leopard has been prowling in the Delhi Public School (DPS) and the Royal Global School located in the Lakhara area in Guwahati, Assam.

"It was lurking in a drain and then jumped out when we approached it," said an employee of the DPS.

Eyewitnesses have confirmed that leopard is not an adult. "We have seen that it is not too big .. more like a cub. However, it has proved to be dangerous and has so far eluded would-be-captors," said an eyewitness.

One of the injured persons, Prabin Haloi, is severely injured. He has been shifted to the Ayursundra Hospital.

Although several wildlife personnel have reached the area in a bid to fish out the animal, their efforts have been unsuccessful so far.
