Yet another bomb found near Assam Rifle’s transit camp in Manipur

IMPHAL: A bomb has been found near the Assam Rifle’s transit camp in Imphal East district in Manipur yesterday.

It has been suspected that a proscribed insurgent outfit, progressive group of People’s Revolutionary Party of Kangleipak (PREPAK), has planted the bomb.

The bomb squad of Manipur police safely removed the bomb from the spot and managed to defuse it.

The explosive was discovered two days after an Assam Rifles personnel was injured when a suspected insurgent lobbed a China-made hand grenade at the transit camp at North AOC.

Then, PREPAK (Progressive) had claimed responsibility for planting the bomb.

The organisation is reportedly against the ‘homecoming ceremony’ in which 20 militants belonging to various banned outfits surrendered before chief minister N Biren Singh on March 9.
