Breaking: Ajanta Neog & Rajdeep Gowala to join BJP tomorrow

GUWAHATI: Former Assam Congress MLAs Ajanta Neog and Rajdeep Gowala are all set to join the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) tomorrow in the party's regional office in Hengerabari, Guwahati. Confirming this earlier today, BJP's Dewan Dhrubajyoti Morol stated that the joining ceremony will be held in the presence of BJP Assam President Ranjeet Dass at 11 am in the morning.

It needs mention here that Neog confirmed that she would be joining the BJP after meeting Union Home Minister Amit Shah during his recent visit to Assam. Neog has also said that she will make many revelations about the Congress after joining the party.

Neog said that when she was in the Congress she was in party discipline and hence was not able to express her views clearly.

Now I have left that party and will make join BJP within one or two days, she said.

Neog had met Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal and North-East Democratic Alliance convenor Himanta Biswa Sarma, sparking rumours that she was in talks to join the BJP ahead of the Assembly elections in 2021.

The grand old party had expelled Neog on Friday from its primary membership for “indulging in anti-party activities”.

Similarly, Rajdeep Gowala was expelled earlier in the year amid rumours that he was in contact with the top leadership of the BJP party. Gowala, hailing from the Barak Valley, has claimed that he has left the Congress over differences over the 'CAA' and some other policies.
