BAKSA: Illegal liquor smuggling continues in Baksa's Tamulpur amidst the Assam police's war against illegal drugs smuggling.

A team of Gandhibari outpost has seized a huge quantity of illegal liquor from Baksa's Tamulpur after a road accident that took place yesterday.

The police recovered 14 cartons of illegal liquor from the vehicle that met with an accident with a cyclist.

The accident took place on Rangiya-Tamulpur-Bhutan road near Dwarkuchi village, Rangia Tehsil of Baksa under Tamulpur police station.

After the accident, police recovered the cartons of liquor from the Wagon R vehicle (AS 01 DF 1960) which was heading towards Rangiya.

After the accident occurred, the injured person was rushed to the Rangiya Primary Health Center by the locals of the area when they noticed the cartons in the vehicle contained illegal liquor.

The locals immediately informed the Gandhibari outpost about the illegal liquor, following the call a police team rushed to the spot and arrested the driver of the vehicle, Pabitra Kalita, and brought him along with the vehicle to the Gandhibari police outpost.

The driver told that the cartons of liquor were being transported to Kamrup's Tulsibari from Kumarikata, in Tamulpur.

It has been said that illegal liquor is being supplied through the highways of Tamulpur frequently.

Now questions are being raised that how such illegal liquor is being supplied after the regular checking of Assam police and how illegal liquor is being smuggled from one district to another after the inter-district movement restrictions.
