19-year-old man stabbed to death in Delhi, 4 held

NEW DELHI: A 19-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death by four teenagers on Tuesday night in South Delhi's Ambedkar Nagar.

Kunal, the victim was walking to a store to buy a birthday cake for his father when the four men surrounded him and stabbed him with knives, according to police.

The suspects have been apprehended, added police.

The four suspects have taken turns stabbing the victim many times, shows on CCTV footage from the incident.

The victim tries to flee, but the boys allegedly hold and thrash him. The incident occurred in Madangir's Bhumiya Chowk.

Kunal passed his Class XII board examinations last year, according to his family and worked as a paperboy in Saket. On Tuesday night, he went out to fetch a cake for his father's birthday but never returned.

“I wasn't even aware my son wasn't at home. He and his siblings were preparing a surprise birthday celebration for me. We got to know about a fight around 10 p.m. When we arrived at Madangir market, we found Kunal in a pool of blood. My son was never in a fight with anyone, he was an industrious young man trying to support his family. He wanted to study more”, said victims father.

Sameer (18), Sohil (18), Gaurav (18), and Roop (18) were identified as the suspects by police, who claimed to have retrieved a knife from Gaurav.

According to the sources, the accused attacked the victim after a fightg over a girl.

Gaurav told us that he and Kunal shared a crush on the same girl. The accused found Kunal at the market on Tuesday night and attacked him, police said.

Further inquiry has revealed that two of the knives used in the crime were recently purchased through an online shopping website, police added.

Kunal was stabbed several times in the chest, back and abdomen several times.

His family hurried him to Max Hospital, where he was declared dead.

The four accused have been booked for murder.
