3 Myanmar nationals admitted to Imphal hospital with bullet injuries

IMPHAL: Three Myanmar nationals have been admitted to Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Science hospital here for treatment after being wounded in indiscriminate firing by Myanmar security forces in Tamu.

Three Myanmerese were admitted to a Moreh hospital, but as their condition deteriorated, they were shifted to Imphal with the aid of volunteers and Moreh Police officials, an official statement said.

The injured have been identified as Phuyoo alias Phuzo, 32, son of Miyantian, Nyae Yoon alias Konanoo, 29, son of Weayyoon and Nay Nay Thoo alias Nyu Nyu Thun, 31, son of Myinninth. All the three are said to be residents of Tamu, Myanmar, which is about 5 km from Moreh, India's last border town in Tengnoupal district.

The injured were first taken to Moreh subdivisional hospital late Thursday night, according to local sources in Moreh border town. The injured were taken to an Imphal hospital after administering first aid.

The Myanmar nationals were initially taken to JNIMS here on Friday morning. However, Naye Yoon, one of the injured, was shifted to Regional Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) here.

According to a medical report from Moreh Hospital, Phuyoo was shot in the abdomen, Nyae Yoon was shot in the right chest and right knee and Nay Nay Thoo was shot in the ride side of his back.

It's still unclear how the injured Myanmar nationals made their way to India.

Security measures have been tightened along the Myanmar border in Manipur to check influx of foreign nationals amid unrest in neighboring country.
