Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Mizoram top all states in sex ratios: Report

GUWAHATI: In a matter of great pride for Northeast Indians, three states -- Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland, and Mizoram -- have recorded the best sex ratios in India. While Arunachal Pradesh has 1,084 females per thousand males, Nagaland has 965 and Mizoram has 964.

These three states have topped the 2018 report on 'Vital statistics of India based on the Civil Registration System (CRS)."

The report, prepared by the Registrar General & Census Commissioner of India, states, "Highest sex ratio at birth (SRB) based on registered events has been reported by Arunachal Pradesh (1,084), followed by Nagaland (965), Mizoram (964), and Kerala (963)."

Meanwhile, the lowest SRB has been reported by Manipur (757), Lakshadweep (839), and Daman and Diu (877).

Delhi recorded a sex ratio of 929, Haryana 914 and Jammu and Kashmir 952.

As per the report, the number of registered births increased to 2.33 crore in 2018 from 2.21 crore registered births the previous year.
