GUWAHATI: Assam State Disaster Management Authority (ASDMA) today issued a fresh COVID-19 advisory for bars, restaurants, banquet halls, and hotels.

Restaurants, bars, hotels, banquet halls, and other eateries have been advised accordingly: 

  • Compulsory wearing of masks by customers/staff/delivery executives
  • They are asked to reduce seating capacity to 50%, by removing/marking tables/stools/chairs that are not to be used.
  • The ASDM advises them to encourage outdoor seating, online ordering, cashless payments, thermal screening, and maintaining hygiene and sanitisation.
  • It also advised to use advisories/safety messages for COVID-19 through display/TVs, run audio reminders/messages, etc.
  • To encourage a contactless system, such as may be displayed in digital forms/display boards instead of circulating menu cards. Menus that are disposable can also be used.The advisory further urged to keep a check on timings for opening and closing of restaurants, related advisories, etc.

According to the ASDM advisory, the hotels are advised as following: 

  • Hotels have been asked to use and provide paddle-operated dustbins in rooms and hotel premises.
  • Hotels are asked to follow the guidelines of CPWD for air-conditioning/ventilation.
  • Instead of dining in the hotels shall encourage room service. Food delivery staff should notify the guest and leave the food at the door rather than handing it to the guest.
  • Intercom/mobile phone shall be used for communication between guests and staff, and room service (if available) should be provided while maintaining a safe physical distance.
  • The advisory asked hotels to develop a schedule for the cleaning staff to clean and disinfect (using 1% sodium hypochlorite) the restaurant and kitchen.
  • All the hotel staff, customers are advised to maintain social distance, to stay hygiene,  encourage using disposal napkins and menu.
  • Seating arrangements in the hotels shall be made to maintain adequate social distance.

Moreover, in case of a suspected or confirmed case in the hotel premises, the ill person has been asked to be in a room or area where they are isolated from others and wear a mask/face cover till the time he/she is examined by a doctor.

Secondly, the hotels asked to immediately inform on the State Helpline No. (1070 / 1079), District Helpline No. (1077), or Dept. of Health Helpline No. (104/ 6913347770).

"Disinfection of the premises to be taken up if the person is found positive," the advisory added.
