GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Tuesday said that a self-reliant Assam is the key to control price hike.
In reply to the questions on rising price of essential commodities, Sarma said that Assam was lagging behind in Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) due to population explosion.
“Certain things cannot be blamed on the government”, said Sarma further reacting to allegations of government failure on controlling price hike.
Taking a dig at the opposition, he said that opposition was not keeping a track of the works done by BJP.
Speaking on the 7th working day of the assembly, the Chief Minister said that when fuel price hikes in the international market, it automatically affects the prices in India.
Reacting to the questions raised against the BJP manifesto, the Chief Minister said that, “Sankalpa Patra is a ‘resolution’ between BJP and people of Assam. Congress has nothing to do it”.
“Talk about budget and leave the Sankalpa Patra to us, we will look after it”, he added.
The Chief Minister said that gender justice cannot be determined by the government and that the environment in the society should change to bring about gender justice.
