GUWAHATI: Former Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi’s last journey has begun from GMCH at around 9 A.M today. Now, Tarun Gogoi’s mortal remains have reached Rajiv Bhawan in G.S road.

From Rajiv Bhawan, the former CM will then be shifted to Srimanta Shankardeva Kalakshetra at 4 P.M where his remains will be kept till November 25.

His body will be kept at the Srimanta Kalakshetra for two days — on November 24 and 25 — so that people can pay their final respects to him.

Gogoi was taken to his official residence in Dispur from GMCH where several ministers paid tribute to Gogoi and was later taken to Janata Bhawan.

It needs mention here that the Assam Chief Minister Sarbananda Sonowal on Monday declared state mourning for 3 days from today (November 24) onwards. Gogoi’s last rites will be performed on November 26.

It was further informed that during this period, the national flag will be flown at half-mast where it is regularly flown.  The third tallest flag in the country, which is in Guwahati’s Gandhi Mandap, is seen flying half-mast.
