Dibrugarh DC takes stock of Covid treatment at AMCH, instructs for 140 more ICU beds

DIBRUGARH: Pallav Gopal Jha, deputy commissioner of Dibrugarh has attended a meeting at Assam Medical College and Hospital today and instructed the AMCH authority to increase the ICU bed capacity immediately.

Jha had also taken stock of treatment provided to Covid patients at the hospital including the oxygen and bed availability at the Covid ward and Covid ICU.

Apart from ICU beds, Jha directed to arrange the treatment facility for Covid19 patients at the Super Speciality hospital building with adequate bed capacity to meet the future challenges.

He had instructed to increase the bed capacity to 300 and ICU bed capacity to 140 on urgent basis at the hospital.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tapan Kr Gohain, Joint Director of health services, Krishna Kemprai, Principal, Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sanjib Kakoti, Superintendent, AMCH, Dr Prashanta Dihingia, senior doctors and officers of AMCH.

The meeting was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner, Tapan Kr Gohain, Joint Director of health services, Krishna Kemprai, Principal, Assam Medical College and Hospital, Dr Sanjib Kakoti, Superintendent, AMCH, Dr Prashanta Dihingia, senior doctors and officers of AMCH.

The second wave of Covid-19 pandemic had affected the Dibrugarh district worsely and it has been continously reporting second highest number of new Covid positive cases in the state after Kamrup (M) on a regular basis over the past few weeks.

It has recorded 228 new Covid positive cases over the past 24 hours and one person succumbed to the virus.
