Eight students of Royal Global University tests COVID-19 positive

GUWAHATI: At least eight students of Royal Global University (RGU) here tested COVID-19 positive today.

All the students tested positive for the disease, when they got themselves tested in a nearby hospital, just before leaving for their respective hometowns.

All the students who tested positive are currently in isolation at a guest house here.

Meanwhile, the varsity authorities have apprised the district administration of the development.

According to sources, all the students are boarders of a hostel of the institute. Sources also claimed that the number could go even higher.

Earlier, the University authorities had postponed the examinations due to the surge in COVID-19 cases in the state and Kamrup (M) district in particular.

Assam today recorded 2,236 fresh cases of Covid-19 and 14 more casualties due to the infection.

With the fresh cases recorded over the past 24 hours, the COVID-19 tally in the state has mounted to 2,35,689.

Kamrup (M) recorded three deaths, while Dibrugarh, Hojai, Jorhat, Kamrup districts reported two death each. Barpeta, Sonitpur and Tinsukia districts reported one deaths each.

Kamrup (M) continued to remain on the top with 815 cases followed by Kamrup 196, Nagaon 123 and Dibrugarh 115 cases.

This leaves the state with 14,198 active cases.
