Assam: Hailakandi administration constitutes cells for better management of quarantine centres

In view of the emergent situations arising out of novel coronavirus COVID-19 pandemic and the incoming of people from different states, the Hailakandi district administration has constituted cells for better management of quarantine centres.

In an order issued to this effect on Thursday, District Magistrate, MN Dahal, ordered the formation of hygiene cell to ensure the cleanliness of the quarantine centres. The hygiene cell will be manned by Executive Officers of Hailakandi and Lala Municipal Boards, Circle Officers, Joint Director, Health Services, Executive Engineer, PHE department, and Incharge of quarantine centers.

A refreshment cell is also formed with SDO (Sadar), Assistant Commissioner, Assistant Director,  Inspectors and Sub Inspectors of Food Civil Supplies and Corporate Affairs, and Incharge of quarantine centres. "The cells will ensure the supply of hygienic food to the quarantine centres. The cells will also assess the requirements from time to time and ensure that necessary arrangements are made to avoid any inconvenience in the quarantine centres," said Dahal. 

The District Magistrate directed all the Circle Officers and Incharge of quarantine centres to coordinate with the concerned cells for smooth management of activities. It may be mentioned that the district administration has set up additional quarantine centres with Deputy Commissioner Dahal identifying the locations and overseeing the arrangements at the isolation wards of hospitals and health centres. Additional Deputy Commissioner, Health, EL Faihraem disclosed that the district has a total capacity of around 1,000 beds in quarantine centres and isolation wards in hospitals with provision for another 1,000 beds in schools, colleges and other institutions to put the returnees under institutional quarantine of 14 days.
