Guwahati: On Thursday, Assam's Youth Congress leader Angkita Dutta became the only female to have been appointed as the president of a State Youth Congress unit. Angkita was the first elected Vice President of Assam Pradesh Youth Congress and on November 25, she was elevated as the president of the Youth Congress in Assam.
Dutta who by profession is a Social Worker, Advocate, and Politician is the daughter of the former president of the Assam Congress Anjan Dutta.
She is a PhD from the Department of Women’s Studies, Gauhati University and holds her LLB degree from the Campus Law Centre, Faculty of Law, Delhi University.
Apart from these, she holds a PG Diploma in Human Rights, IIHR, a degree in Political Science, Specialisation in Women & Political Process.
During her career before mainstream politics, she worked from an NGO named Scope Plus as well as Research Investigator on the project Gender Audit. She also worked with Ajir Dainik Batori and Assamese News Daily and with Focus TV as an anchor/assistant producer.
